Great Teacher Onizuka had some potential, but all of the humor is repetitive and juvenile, while unrealistic dramatic scenes dominate the plot more and more as the series drags on. It basically fails on both fronts. Plot points and devices are reused to the point where they become dull, and they get increasingly ridiculous as the series progresses.

GTO: The Early Years (Shonan Junai Gumi) Ryuji is one of the main characters of Shonan Junai Gumi. He is one half of the Onibaku duo. Ryuji was a student at Tsujido High School, and was in the same class as Eikichi. At the start of the series Ryuji is a first year student at Kyokuto High School.

GTO is one of my favorite anime. Personally I loved how refreshing it was compared to other school focused anime. First of all it has a teacher as a main character and being that im not in highschool I relate much more to him than other MCs. Another thing I loved is that the students where annoying and entitled just like real life students.

Did anyone else realize GTO is about breaking the cycle? Breaking the cycle of hate, breaking the cycle of bad teachers or bad parents.
