Hell, I'm pretty sure Naruto from the future was a decently popular theory back then. The names are pretty close phonetically, but Tobi itself translates to either "to fly" or "kite". Obito translates to "neck" or "respectable person". Shisui translates to "stagnant water" or "drowning".
